Grays Athletic's officials are keeping their fingers crossed that the Ryman Premier club's stars of the future can complete a quadruple of league and cup successes next week after their youngsters lifted the Essex Pelly U18s Cup on Wednesday night.

Gary Fuller’s side, already Eastern Junior Alliance U18 league champions, overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Bowers & Pitsea 3-2 after extra-time at Billerciay’s New Lodge to win the Essex FA’s premier trophy which was first presented in 1937.

After seeing their young Blues complete a league and cup double, officials are now preparing their title winning U21s to go head-to-head with Maidstone United in the Ryman U21 League’s two-legged play-off final to decide this season’s overall champions.

The Blues won the Ryman U21 North Division with a game to spare last week when they beat Thamesmead FC 5-0 at Mill field. The Stones won the South Division title for the second successive season earlier this month, also with a game to spare, clinching the championship in style with a 4-0 win over Lewes.

Aveley’s Mill Field hosts the first leg of the final on Wednesday night before Saturday’s second leg at the Gallagher Stadium in Kent.

A Blues spokesman said: “Everyone at the club would like to congratulate the Blues U18 squad. A massive congratulations to Garry Fuller and his young squad.

"The U21's can now complete what has been a fantastic season for the Grays Athletic youth teams. We wish them well and the whole club will be behind them next week.”
