Tanners boss pleased with enforced break

Leatherhead manager Richard Brady has told fans he is happy his side is on an extended break from Ryman Premier action.

The Tanners have the weekend off and are effectively enjoying a three week break thanks to the involvement of their scheduled opponents in cup competitions.

Brady's side return to action at Imber Court against the Metropolitan Police on Saturday week (Nov 21) and the Tanners manager reckons the time out for his squad couldn't have come at a better time after a hectic month of fixtures and 5-1 defeat at home to Kingstonian in the FA Trophy last time out.

Brady told www.dorkingandleatherheadadvertiser.co.uk: "We are happy to have the break. Yes, the Trophy defeat was disappointing, but we have taken four points out of the last six in the league, which is our bread and butter.

"Of course, you want to do as well as you can in the cup competitions, but that hasn't happened and now we have to concentrate on the league.

"In a way the break comes at a good time, because we have time to recover now and we will have forgotten all about the Kingstonian game by the next time we play.

"We will keep the boys ticking over in the meantime, but it isn't too bad to have a break like this."

"We don't run with the biggest squad and to keep asking the boys to play Saturday, midweek, Saturday, midweek, it is unrealistic."

Brady is also looking to add to his squad may look to make one or two changes as the Tanners look to climb into the top half of the table.

He added: "This is a chance to consolidate what we have got and make a couple of changes. We are working away to try and get the type of players that we want at the club, but it is not easy.

"At this stage of the season, a lot of players are tied up at clubs and are happy where they are, but we are trying to sort out a couple of things.

"We don't have the biggest squad and a couple of injuries or suspensions can hit us hard, so we need to try and maybe add one or two to help boost the group."
