Farsley Celtic's assistant manager and academy coach Mark Jackson has left the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League for a new challenge at Leeds United.

Jackson started work at the academy at Elland Road on Monday after eight years at the First Division North club.

Before his departure, Jackson, who first arrived at Throstle Nest back in 2007, was the subject of a special feature in the club's matchday programme for last Saturday's 3-1 win over Scarborough Athletic.

Jackson was succeeded this week as manager Neil Parsley's number two by Lee Connor who left Ossett Town to take up the post. A former Bradford Park Avenue player, his association with Celtic goes back 20 years after he came through the club's youth system to enjoy two spells as a first team player.

Connor, who'll be alongside Parsley on the touchline for the first time on Saturday at Clitheroe, told the club's website: "I have always hoped to come back to the club. I have been asked a couple of times to go elsewhere in a coaching role but ultimately I am delighted that this opportunity has come up at what I consider is the right time for me.

"Initially, Mark Jackson approached me and said it would be a good thing to go for, and having spoken to Neil, there was only once decision. To fill Jacko’s shoes is going to be a big task but to get the call was great.

"We have a great set of lads here, and although I don’t know some of the younger ones, this team is packed full of players that have performed at this, and a higher level."
