Mike Flanagan has been appointed first team manager of Brentwood Town after George Borg stood down at the beginning of the week.

A statement on the club website read "George has business commitments that involve him travelling to America and he thought it best if he did not continue.

The Club wishes to thank George for his contribution this season as coach and manager.

Mike Flanagan had an illustrious playing career as a forward in the Football League scoring over 100 goals for Charlton Athletic.

He has also managed at Gillingham and had been involved in a scouting role with Brentwood Town during the previous two seasons when his son Adam was manager of the Club.

The Club are delighted to welcome back Mike and also Chris Smith who is returning to the Club as Mike’s assistant"
