Silkmen boss wants reaction after Shots defeat

Macclesfield Town boss John Askey is hoping for a reaction when the Silkmen make the trip to Forest Green on Saturday.

After a frustrating National League defeat to Aldershot on last weekend the Silkmen boss is looking for his players to get back to the sort of form that they showed prior to the festive season.

Despite some disappointing results in recent weeks, Macclesfield still sit just outside the play-offs as they make the trip to Gloucestershire on Saturday.

Forest Green are riding high in the National League, but Macclesfield did secure an emphatic 4-1 win over Rovers earlier in the season.

But Askey isn't reading too much in to that result and is instead focusing on his side getting back to playing with an increased tempo.

John told Silkmen Player: "I don't think it matters who we play. On our day we can beat anybody, but as we saw against Aldershot, if we're off it then we can be in trouble.

"For whatever reason we aren't playing at a tempo at the minute and we need to get back to that. All we can do is try and sort it out.

"We have got to roll our sleeves up and start working. It's easy when you are winning but when things aren't going right that is when you see what you are made of."
