FF News Posted February 19, 2017 Share Posted February 19, 2017 Darlington have confirmed the ball is rolling on their plan to have the club's name changed back. The club have been known as Darlington 1883 since reforming after the old club closed due to years of mismanagement. A go again club has been a huge success and they have risen to the Vanarama National League North. In a statement, the club confirmed that the Football Association have backed the move and approval could be granted in less than six weeks' times. "The Board is delighted to report that the Membership Committee of the Football Association has now considered the application to change the club’s playing name back to `Darlington`, and has recommended to the FA Council that the name change should be approved, to be effective for the season 2017/18. The FA Council will now make the final decision on 3rd April 2017," the club said. Club director Jonathan Jowett said: “This is fantastic news for all of our supporters and I would like to thank the FA Membership Committee for its recommendation.
