I'm surprised there is no thread on Codicote as yet however I will kick one off with their Covid-19 Risk Assessment document, maybe 'Mr Codicote', Jim Bundy, won't be able to resist posting on it during the coming season:

Photographs of the delightful John Clements Memorial Ground in the sleepy village of Codicote, although not recently and before the Club moved out to groundshare, firstly with Hertford Town and then with Hatfield Town for a number of years whilst over £100k of improvements were being made to the ground, they finally returned in September 2016 and the rest is history albeit not so much on the field of play where success has eluded the Club in recent years:

Just adding to this new thread with over 100 excellent photos from Codicote's SSML Division Two clash with Buckingham United last season, on Saturday 9 November 2019 at the Lace Hill Sports & Community Centre, which resulted in a 0-0 stalemate:

Codicote entertain New Bradwell St Peter on Saturday 19 September for their first SSML Division Two fixture of the new campaign, they then travel to the Kingsway Recreation Ground to meet with The 61 FC (Luton) the following Saturday. Reading between the lines Codicote are going to put all their eggs in one basket this coming season to try to gain promotion to Step 6 Level for 2021/22 be that in the SSML or elsewhere due to the deferred restructuring of the National League System.

A six point start for Codicote this season with a 2-1 home win over New Bradwell St Peter (programme below) and a 6-1 win at whipping boys The 61 FC (Luton) on Saturday (match report below). Next Saturday (3 October) James Tizard's men entertain Buckingham United followed by a visit to Aston Clinton on Saturday 10 October:

I see that Codicote are mentioned over on another Forum on a thread entitled 'Herts Senior County League', fame at last, the Club were relegated from the SSML Division One with Hatfield Town in 2018/19 however I don't think Jim Bundy was that botherered about going into the SSML Division 2 as opposed to the Premier Division of the Herts Senior County League, why would he be:

https://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forums/index.php?threads/herts-senior-county-league.2404/

Q. Is there any reason that Codicote are in the SSM2 rather than the Herts Senior County League? Is it just because they were relegated from the SSM1?

A. They went down the same season as Hatfield Town so I think the FA weren;t keen on them both going to the same Step 7 division so plonked Codicote in the SSML D2, just to screw them over that little bit more. They've not requested a transfer though, so maybe they're happy there now.

Sadly no game today for early SSML Division Two leaders Codicote due to the weather conditions leaving the hallowed John Clements Memorial Ground turf unplayable but at least you can still enjoy the excellent match programme (see link), they try again next Saturday (10 October) at Aston Clinton Park:

There's a thread on another Forum entitled 'Step 6 Applicants 2020/21', I am assuming that Jim Bundy still has the Club's hat in the ring from last season and that the rules remain the same for this season, whereby a SSML Division Two Club have to finish in the top five in Division Two in order to be considered for promotion. Presumably however, the Division Two Champions and runners up get automatic promotion to Division One so long as they meet the criteria, specifically floodlighting, so in other words Codicote are already a Step 6 Club as, certainly on present form, they are unlikely to drop out of the top two for the remainder of the campaign. Yesterday at Aston Clinton Park (see photograph), James Tizzard's men were 3-1 down with twenty minutes of the proceedings remaining yet they somehow managed to claw their way back and win 4-3 with goals from Lewis Mitchell, Luke Bennett, Jordan Leech Levy and Abel Midimu, next Saturday they meet Berkhamsted Comrades at the John Clements Memorial Ground:

Codicote can do no wrong at present and top the SSML Division Two table this evening with maximum points following an impressive 4-1 home win over Berkhamsted Comrades with a goal from Perry Price and a hat trick from Jordan Leech-Levy, Berkhamsted Comrades took an early lead but it was to no avail and a red card later on did not help their cause. See the match programme:

Step 7 Club's have until 31 December to apply for promotion however those who applied last season, such as Codicote, do not need to reapply, Club's must finish in the top five of their division and meet ground grading requirements to have a chance of promotion. If, in the unlikely event, Codicote wish to withdraw their application, it should be done in writing to NLS@thefa.com by 31 December:

Codicote have only flirted with the FA Cup in their existence, taking part for just three seasons and playing seven ties in all albeit against only four Club's (see below). In 2013/14 they lost an Extra Preliminary Round Replay at Crawley Green Sports, in 2014/15 they beat Brantham Athletic 5-0 in a first hurdle replay at the Gosling Sports Park and then went out at Tilbury in a Preliminary Round Replay, lastly, and most recently, they lost 3-1 at Southend Manor in a 2015/16 Extra Preliminary Round tie:

Interesting photographs of Codicote itself, there's far more to the leafy place than just the John Clements Memorial Ground:

Some of you may have heard artist Sam Edwards when he was featured on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show a while back, he has recently painted the John Clements Memorial Ground and very kindly donated his amazing work to the Club:
