Premier Division

Colney Heath 2 Leverstock Green 1

Leverstock Green couldn't quite repeat their heroics from last season at Colney Heath, having taken the lead on 38 minutes they conceded in the 79th and 86th minute:

What a win tonight, fantastic performance from start to finish, topped off with some brilliant goals!

Now Where's that geezer who said he would need a abacus to count all the Harefield goals! ???

As Greavsie once said 'it's a funny old game' isn't it, the fixture last night at Preston Park had home win written all over it with Edgware Town eyeing their FA Vase tie on Friday and 'a cool' £725 in win prize money if they get through to the First Round proper and they go and win 4-2, I wonder if Agamemnon3 is eating his words about needing an abacas to count Harefield United's goals:

He doesn't look that big in that photo ?

Er, well no seeing as he is crouching down, he was prolific at Tokyngton Manor but, surprisingly, needed an arm around his shoulder, he was still soaking behind the ears back then.

Yes it seems the pitch improvements that NGU did in the Summer are paying off.

That's the biggest understatement of all time looking at these photogrqaphs from last night's game with Crawley Green:

He doesn't look as well built in your photo as when I have seen him play over the years. The photo doesn't do his size justice.

Premier Division

Harpenden Town 1 Wembley 0

I've noticed that Harpenden Town are going about their business in a stealth like way and flying under the radar, they are third in the SSML Premier Division table with three wins and a draw from four matches and that should have been four out of four as they were the better side at Oxhey Jets in the pulsating 3-3 draw on 15 September. They were unlucky to come up against a very good Aveley side at Rothamsted Park in the FA Cup Preliminary Round after winning 2-0 at Redbridge in the Extra Preliminary Round, sorry to do a 'Motty' (Karen) but, surprisingly, this season was only the Club's tenth competing in the FA Cup as for quite a few seasons they were a SSML Division One Club and therefore not eligible to enter the competition. Saturday's FA Vase Second Qualifying Round visit to United Counties League Premier Division Cogenhoe United will be interesting and, even more so, the visit to Colney Heath the following Saturday (17 October), their next League fixture whereas Colney Heath have a midweek game at home to Oxhey Jets which would already put Ryan Thompson's men nine points clear of Harpenden Town should they win.
