You have to hand it to The 61 FC (Luton), four recent League wins including against Sarratt at the Kingsway Recreation Ground on Saturday 30 October:

Eynesbury United have been unfortunate with postponements and have played just one League fixture since well before Christmas, hopefully Risborough Rangers Development won't cry off at the twelfth hour this afternoon as they have a history of doing:

Ampthill Town shouldn't need to get out of first gear to win this one at Spratleys Meadow should they:

I wonder whether new Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack was in attendance at the Victoria MiII Ground this afternoon, I gather there was an interesting feature on Bedford on BBC Sport News this morning.

Yes a bad day at the office on a pitch not conducive to football played on the ground, very poor as a spectacle. Far too many sub par Jets performances today but a fortnight to address before the next league action, and to be fair there hasn't been a display as bad as that for a while.

Always something at these games to make you laugh or incredulous though, the linesman today, without irony, when a throw in he adjudged not to have been in play: "That's not up to me", and then later said he had the power to eject a spectator from the ground (in which case football grounds all over the country would be empty after 10 minutes).

Nice people at Ardley without exception, just glad we don't have to play on that surface every week. Never mind football boots, you'd be better with crampons on that slope!

View from the Boundar- Was PetetheGreeK on the game then, he doesn't normallventure so far afield unless he specifically requests to. you're right that the pitch leaves a lot to be desired:

Also a groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at Pancake Lane:

Leverstock Green 0-2 Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, Spartan South Midlands. Entry £4 (codger rate), programmes online. Attendance 60
Had to stay reasonably local and could not make the Fulham match at Stoke. With Staines being PP for very sad reasons decided upon this new tick. Very basic venue with standard 50 seater stand on the opposite side to the clubhouse / changing rooms / all other facilities where there is also slight cover under an overhang. Sloping pitch from one goal to just beyond the halfway line.
As for the match - not the highest of quality but the goals, one in each half were both very well taken and out of keeping with the remainder. The game was very niggly and noticeable for both sides but especially the visitors trying to wind up the opposition and the referee.
The referee only booked 2 players in total, certainly a stronger one would have seen far more reports going into the League, especially following the “denying a goalscoring opportunity” incident where the AVD left winger was fouled right on the edge of the box when running through. Free kick and no card. There was also an inevitable late melee involving most of the players that also went completely unpunished. Some referees of course brandish cards incessantly, this one was the other extreme. It is of course difficult for the officials to get the right balance.
Scott McGleish, aged 47 and with over 900 league appearances behind him came on as a second half sub for LG. It’s good to see players like that still in action as it shows their love of the game.

Division Two
Risborough Rangers Development 2 Eynesbury United 0

A disappointing defeat for Eynesbury United yesterday however Risborough Rangers played a number of First Team players and I expect Mark Eaton was in attendance:

Risborough Rangers Development (1) 2 Eynesbury Utd (0) 0
United lost their unbeaten record that stretched back to September with a 2-0 defeat at Risborough.
Against a Risborough team no doubt stronger due to a number of first team players being drafted in. United battled hard and at times were more than a match for the Risbotough team. In fact United could have gone in leading at half time but were denied by a bizarre refereeing decision and some good keeping by the home custodian. The bizarre decision came on 34 minutes when a corner swung in from the left was met by Cam Harris who headed home but the ref disallowed the goal for pushing though it was clear that the Risborough player had pushed the United goal scorer.
Shane Fox then rose moments later to head a powerful effort towards goal only for the keeper to save briliantly. Baxter then hit a rasping shot that the keeper once again saved. The second half saw United dominate for long periods. Ryan Baxter raced through only to be denied by the keeper, who was having a blinder. Sam Smith climbed off the bench and went on a run that started in his own half, beat three defenders but was tackled before he could get his shot off.
But it was not to be, and it was a disappointed bunch that travelled home, and our dealings with Risborough this season has left a bitter taste in the mouth but they will reap what they sow in relation to their Development side and Tom from 24/7 had kindly donated the £100 they failed to pay to the Indie charity. But saying all that great set up and we wish them well next week in their game at Flackwell Heath.

High quality YouTube highlights and good commentary although I think he has been listening to Cliff Morgan's commentary on the iconic try for the Barbarians against the All Blacks in Cardiff in 1973 for Bedford's first goal:
