Saturday 22 April
Division Two
Buckingham United 5 Bovingdon 0

Two groundhoppers from another Forum, including Steve B, were at this one, see a link to his Blog:

3pm - Spartan South Midlands League, Division Two
Buckingham United 5 Bovingdon 0 (at 31 h/c, a rather fanciful 54 officially)
Free admission, no progs

Handful of fellow hoppers at this, including Cherryhopper, all taking the chance to visit Lace Hill before United merge with cross-town rivals Buckingham Athletic in the summer. The ground has been described in previous WDYG posts, and remains a neatly railed off pitch, with dugouts but no cover, attached to a community and sports centre.
Easy home win, but to be fair on Bovingdon it was their third game in a week. Other than the finishing there wasn't much between the sides in the first half, but it was 3-0 by the break. A fourth home goal came in the opening minute of the second period, following eventually by a fifth, by which time the visitors had been forced, due to injury, to replace their keeper.

Buckingham United v Bovingdon (stevebthegroundhopper.blogspot.com)

As mentioned was also at Buckingham United, a surprise scoreline given the hosts are 2nd bottom in the league. Liked the ground, for a relatively new venue it was a nice change to see a metal rail around the pitch rather than the plastic offerings most clubs go for these days and the park is nicely landscaped with hill views but by far the best feature is the cowshed behind the far goal which from a distance gives the illusion of an old school covered terrace but on a neighbouring farm with a fence preventing access.
Bad news for anyone who was hoping to visit next Thursday (like Spud) as the fixture vs Pitstone & Ivinghoe is being played at Buckingham Athletic's Stratford Fields ground making next Saturday's game vs Codicote the last opportunity to tick Lace Hill for the first team. Expect it will still be in use next season, either with United becoming the merged club's reserves and continuing in SSML 2 or by Athletic's Development Squad who play in the Hellenic 2 North.

Saturday 22 April
Premier Division
Risborough Rangers 4 Tring Athletic 1

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Horsenden Lane:

South Midlands League Premier Division, Windsors, Princes Risborough
Risborough Rangers 4 (1) Tring Athletic 1 (0)
All Red v Yellow & Black, Attendance 167
Concession Admission £3, Programmes Online, Team Sheet Free, Badge £3, Bacon Roll £2.60, Tea £1

Pre match lunch at the excellent Lions of Bledlow just five minutes drive from Windsors. Arrived at the ground just after 2 and bagged a good parking place for a quick post match getaway.
I really like Windsors with it‘s assortment of stands, all curiously named. Not sure if the main stand had another name but at the bottom end it was called the Jack Burnett Stand. The stand is really an extension of the Clubhouse and changing rooms with both seats and standing. The Clubhouse had a decent sized bar and a tea bar serving hot food and drinks. The hard standing down that same side of the ground is called the Ken Sheppard Way. Just to the right of the bottom goal is the very small wooden Derrick Wallace Stand. Moving around to the touchline opposite the clubhouse and dugouts was my favourite, the Colyn Makepeace Stand. Another small wooden stand it was occupied by half a dozen on Rangers more senior supporters who obviously got there early to reserve their seats. Finally the second biggest stand, also on that touchline, was the Richard Woodward Family Stand.
Going into today’s game Rangers had just missed out on the Premier Division runners up spot which could have got them promoted but a win in this their final game of the season would secure third place on goal difference ahead of Dunstable Town. Athletic were mid table.
The first half was a close contest with Rangers just shading it. They took the lead on 34 minutes through a back post header by Joel Read from a left side corner. Just five minutes into the second half and Athletic equalised. Guiseppe Delgaudio was given far too much space in the box and it was one all. No sooner had Athletic levelled they were behind again when just a minute after the equaliser Asher Yearwood flicked the ball on to Ricky Miller who fired in. On 76 minutes it was three-one. Sub Rico Greco battled for the ball in the box and then just got enough on his scuffed shot to beat the keeper. Three minutes from the end of normal time Yearwood drove into the box and fired goal wards. Athletic‘s centre half could only divert the shot into his own goal. It looks like his blushes will be spared however as Rangers’ Twitter were crediting it to Yearwood, his 50th goal for the Club and Rangers’ hundredth goal of the season!

Saturday 22 April
Premier Division
Stotfold 1 Dunstable Town 3

A groundhopper from another Forum was present, he seems to be under the impression that there are SSML Premier Division Play-Off's:

Stotfold 1-3 Dunstable Town att 338
Spartan South Midlands Premier
Stotfold had secured there play off place on Thursday which stopped a potential winner takes all game today. For Stotfold's sake, it is just as well, as they were pretty poor with their only option being to lump the ball up to two big centre forwards and try to get something from the scraps. It worked only once to equalise in the second half when one of the forwards won a header from a long cross, heading across goal to provide a tap in. Dunstable were a much better side, scored three decent goals and deserved this relatively easy victory. Perhaps the lack of edge on the game impacted the performance but given these two sides lofty positions in the league, the quality of the game was not great
New Roker Park is one of the better new grounds I have seen. Plenty of room, decent stands (sitting & standing), good facilities and given the horrid weather a pitch that was well prepared and certainly cannot be blamed for the quality.
