I wont be voting for anyone!

Not even independent candidates....!

Why?

Because I cannot get a proxy or postal vote!

The town hall tell me that there is not enough time between 9am this morning [when I telephoned] and next Thursday to get the registration to me, because of Royal Mail's poor service.

Attempted to register electronically through www.londonelects.org.uk and the system is just vague and crap and wont let me.

Democracy my ar5e!

My local authority had removed me from the voting register. So I had to reapply, but I managed to complete the form and deliver it by hand on time. Now I've got my voting card, and I can vote. Since I am only eligible to vote in district and Euro elections, I am not going to waste one of these rare opportunities. The European Parliament is slowly acquiring more power, even though they don't decide very much yet. So I consider it rather important to vote in these elections. By the next time a voting opportunity comes around, they may be deciding more than is proposed in the new constitution.

However, I agree that it is not all that democratic.

The thing is Urchino, there are double standards. If you are a Welsh National, Irish National, or Scottish National, or National party of any other country, you are seen as a bit to the left, freedom fighter, man of the people.

As soon as you are either a UK,British,or English National, you are seen as a right wing Neo Nazi thug. Surley that is discrimiantion in itself?

No, it depends on the constitution and manifesto of the party in question. It is perfectly possible to have a left wing party supporting national independence i.e. with a goal of an independent socialist republic. There are twin objectives, independence and socialism.

If the home country of that party is already independent, the party would probably just be called the Socialist Party or something. A socialist party could call itself English National Party but the name would tend to be confusing. I am not sure what the politics are of the actual party of that name.

The party known as the British National Party is of course a well known far right wing party.

National Socialists are not usually regarded as being all that left wing. This is because internationalism is a part of the left wing palette. It is sometimes useful to at the policies of a party or political movement in more detail rather than trying to place them as left or right.
