Yeading 0 Ricay 4

What a win today and although Yeading were concentrating somewhat on the fa cup I hope we can use this as a starting point for the rest of the season and start proving our class in the league. At least it makes up for losing there earlier this year. Hopefully it'll be a home draw next round - we could do well in the trophy <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/greenapple.gif" alt="" />

Good stuff - thought we were much the better team throughout. 2 First half goals from Forbsey then 2nd half Dorms grabbed the third before Ross got his first Billericay goal.

Team

Gothard, McSweeney, Henty, Sappleton, Trott, Dormer, Forbes, Hunter, Wareham (Poole), Cousins (Stowe), Gallagher (Kerrigan)

And for the Slough fan the Yeading starting XI was:

McArthur, Behzadi, Protain, Saroya, Kleboe, Stanley, Clarke, Brown, Morgan, Telemaque, Perfect

Apparently Preddie was rested whilst DJ Campbell had a knock. Yeading played with plenty of pace, but without DJ they looked toothless in attack and didn't threaten much.

A fantastic result. With Hockton injured and Brayley leaving I was worried where the goals would come from, but this match and the Hendon match has shown we can get by with out them.

If the players continue with this level of performance then December should be a good month for us and we will be right on Yeading's heels.

In a way Hockton not being available has helped the team, as instead of just looking for him to score goals, we're creating chances in different areas, with the midfielders being freed up to make runs into the box. Dorms and Forbes can now be aiming to get at least 10 goals each this season, and with Cuz and Rossy starting to gel as a pair things are looking good.

Tremendous result, well done boys. Seems were putting to bed our early season scoring problems. Lets hope this sparks a few defeats for Yeading and well be top by Christmas. Could be a very rosy December for us with 5 (i think) home games, and our only away day being Dover. Who do we want in the next round then? Aldershot away perhaps? Maybe not, considering the hooligan thread. Id be happy with any home draw tbh

Another superb result and performance by us yesterday once again demonstrating how much better one eleven is rather than eleven ones as we gelled together as a unit.

Yeading started brightly but apart from the first 10-15 minutes we have again completely dominated the match. I imagine Yeading will attempt to point to a couple of missing players but the facts are we have players missing too and yesterday a "first team" squad of 13 but we just got on with it and did the job - and very impressively at that. Although it's a bit unfair to single anyone out as the team did so well Steve Forbes was magnificent yesterday. He has shown us good form in patches before but this was the first time it has been sustained over 90 minutes and his forward runs and range of passing were far too much for Yeading.

If there is a downer (apart from the food) for me it was another lacklustre 15 mins from Stowey. I think Chris needs to sit himself down and decide whether he wants to be part of this. Surely he can see how we are now moving forward? Or he can choose to take the other way and that's the way out....Come on Stowey, make an effort mate

All in all a top effort from the lads..Let's hope we can keep it up.

PS Well done to Ross for his first Ricay goal!!!

Further to comments re scoring goals from other areas of the pitch it's stat time:

In the 13 games up to and including Dorking (where Danny did his knee) 6 different players (Not including og) scored for Billericay - only Hockton and Brayley scored more than 1

In the 10 games (not including Halstead) subsequent to that 10 different players have now scored, with Forbes, Brayley, Dormer, Cousins and Hunter all scoring 2 or more.

A top performance from the lads and very difficult to pick a player that was better than the rest but I'll go with the vote of Forbes.

According to the NLP today, Yeading had a "number" of players missing. To the casual reader, this implies that they didn't field a first team. Well, they did, with only two players missing, DJ Campbell and their 1st choice goalkeeper, missing. The report under values our victory. In my mind, a team that relies on two players is a team not able to keep their contention on the league.

To be totally uncharitable to Yeading, I hope yesterday's thrashing really does their confidence in and they start to go in free fall. Poor crowds, poor food and poor service at the bar (all the improtant things other than footie), just shows that the club is over valued as a "successful" concern. Put this with thier patronising attitue in their program and you get a club that really deserved the "stomping" we gave them yesterday. And if I sound patronising...and reading this back...I do, then hey, they deserve it.

What a result when it was on the FA site I was simply disbelieving as I felt we could win if we played well but didnt expect to give them thrashing. Good to see Forbes is producing over 90 as I felt he was potentially good but a little to lazy and inconsistent within games on the few occasions I have seen him play. I have to say I really hope this knocks their confidence for next Saturday’s game (and the rest of season) and see Slough win on Saturday who are a proper footy team with fans and a history unlike those history less upstarts Yeading and of course with no ground Slough really need the money that a dream 3rd round tie could give them whereas of course Yeading don’t well they could do with some more to try and buy some fans but that hasn’t worked so far. Excellent to see where are socring from other areas
