Shot fan making first visit to Gravesend

Guest

Recommended Posts

My son and I have been following Aldershot for 2 1/2 years now. We have in the past been going to home games only, but this season (like most fans away from the 'glamour' clubs) we have been 'hooked' and are going to away games too !

This will be our first visit to Gravesend. Would it be OK to ask the following :-

1. Any advice or where to park (and where not to park) ?

2. In case of bad weather or we likely to be in a covered or un-covered area ? (we will be standing not sitting).

3. Who are the stars and in-form players at Gravesend that you recommend are worth keeping an eye on ?

Many thanks

Park anywhere around the ground - there is an industrial estate plus plenty of parking in the roads surrounding the stadium.

If it rains you might get a small covered section to one side of the ground, but otherwise it's uncovered terrace.

We haven't got any star players and if you look at our recent form none in form either!

Bit harsh Jimmy... I would say we have one of the strongest mid-field arrays than most other Conf clubs. Jay Saunders, Lee Protheroe and Andy Drury are top banana, Manny is back on form and will be your defence's target man (if he start's/play's).

We can beat The Shot, if we play as well as we did when we visited them, Jay was unlucky to be given the red card, and the scoreline definately did not match the performane of the Fleet.. and to lose it in the 93rd minute was a hard pill to swallow.. we will want revenge for that.

But of corse what you don't do is tell the opposition who's fit who's on form etc, you let them find out on the pitch.

Many thanks for the feedback.

To sum up.

1. Parking is a doddle.

2. Come prepared in case of bad weather.

3. Gravesend and Northfleet are having a poor season but the midfield is the strength in the side.

Here's hoping for a good friendly, entertaining, lively game; which the shots just shade (a 5-4 scoreline will be fun !). I would wish also for a good competent and consistent referee, but I suspect this is very unlikely.

I must apologise for my fellow supporters. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

With regards to questions 2 & 3, the away supporters section is uncovered and very much open to the elements. If you were to pay to go into the home supporters section on arrival you would have the option of being covered and remaining warm and dry. Whilst this may not be official club policy, keep your colour fairly well covered until your in the groubnd. In all the time I have been following GNFC I havn’t witnessed any away supporters being on the receiving end of intimidation or violence so therefore I would treat the segregation policy with a pinch of salt.

Unfortunately there are no star players currently at Stonebridge Road, and we are in the middle of a run of poor form, the only players worth keeping an eye on is our goalkeeper because that where the action will undoubtedly be taking place.

Enjoy your visit.

I've seen plenty removed from the home supporter's end since we've been in the conference for celebrating their team scoring against us. Once removed, you don't get back in. Hardly advisable, is it?

Your correct Fleet Fanatic, on second thoughts if this Aldershot supporter were to celebrate a goal after only 2 minutes and be ejected, there is every chance he would miss the other four goals scored by his side. Good thinking batman.
