Slough Town have beaten higher league opposition for the third time this season when they beat conference south high flyers Thurrock by one goal at Stag Meadow.

The Rebels made a fairly bright start to the game but never really threatening Thurrock's goal.

Slough suffered an early injury scare when Ian Hodges had to receive treatment from physio Kevin McGoldrick following a clash between himself and a Thurrock defender, fortunately for the Rebels, he was deemed fit to continue.

Ryan Spencer came close to opening the scoring when he fired just over from Harris's pass.

Christian Metcalfe was booked on 19 minutes, along with Thurrock's no.7. Their no.7 kicked out at Metcalfe after he had tackled him.

From the resulting free-kick, the ball was drifted in the Slough penalty area and a goalmouth scramble followed, with resulted in the visitors missing an open goal and the ball being cleared to safety.

Josias Carbon was the next person to go into the referee's notebook when he was booked for a tackle on a Thurrock defender with half an hour gone.

Thurrock came close to taking the lead, but Allaway saved well from close range.

Minutes later, the Rebels had a golden opportunity to open the scoring, but Josias Carbon's shot went well wide from 6 yards out.

2nd half

Carbon had a similar chance to score, but again his shot went wide from about 7 yards from goal.

Steve Daly almost put Slough ahead, but his header was tipped over the bar by the goalkeeper.

Slough decided to freshen things up by putting Matt Seedel on for Matt Murphy.

The hosts took the lead via a penalty on 73 minutes, when a Thurrock defender handled the ball inside the area. Glen Harris took the spot kick, the goalkeeper saved but Harris buried the rebound.

A couple of minutes later, Josias Carbon came close to doubling Slough's lead but his header was also tipped over the bar.

With two minutes of normal time remaining, Christian Metcalfe was sent off for his second bookable offence.
