Inspirals were superb in the early-90s, live or otherwise.

The Beast Inside, coupled with the Island Head EP (7" version), is the best stuff they've ever done. So moody and atmospheric. Just brilliant.

I saw them on the Beast Inside tour in 1991, and they blew me away.

Dragging Me Down is another favourite of mine. And the version of Sackville that appears on the b-side of She Comes In The Fall. Much better than the album version.

Bands always come out with crap like that. It's like Noel when he claimed that Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants was the best album he'd ever made.

I'm sure they were technically better musicians in 2003, but even you can't believe it was better to see them in 2003 than 1991.

You know that is not true. Tom Hingley is part of the band and every time I've spoken to him about it he has never praised the 2003 get together. (as you well know.)

He was slagging the tour off because he hated them, not the fact the tour was rubbish

I first heard of Inspiral Carpets on a February 1990 edition of Top Of The Pops.

As previously stated on this board a while ago, this episode changed my life!

From hearing This Is How It Feels, I spent the next few weeks discovering the Stone Roses and the rest is history!!

I'll dig out my original thread about this, if I can be arsed.
