www.kentishfootball.co.uk has EXCLUSIVELY received the following statement, which was issued by Ashford Holdings Limited earlier today:

 

 

As Ashford Town Football Club Limited (“ATFC”) is in excess of 122 weeks in arrears of rent, Ashford Holdings Limited (“Holdings”), the freeholder of the Homelands, has peaceably re-entered the premises occupied by ATFC and accordingly their lease is determined. There are other outstanding matters into which Holdings has asked the Police to investigate.

 

 

Despite the non-payment of rent, in order not to be disruptive to the Club, the former tenant was permitted to complete the 2004/2005 season. Holdings has taken this action at this time, not only because the rent is still remains unpaid but because there remains ample opportunity for a new tenant to enter into a new lease and to obtain the approval of the Ryman League and The Football Association so that the Club can be reconstituted in time for the commencement of the 2005/2006 season.

 

 

Holdings supports the continuance of semi-professional association football in the Ashford area and is willing to enter into a new lease with a suitable person and would be particularly interested in giving such an opportunity, at a subsidised rent, to a Supporters’ Trust similar to that established by many other smaller Football Clubs.
