reflections on yesterday

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

I was at the ground early and even at 11.30 things were rolling along....fans arrived to see if help was wanted and the restaurant was filling up before midday..as was the bar...

perfectly honoured minutes silence for Jim Bradshaw and the urchins in black armbands as they took the field...the wind was very strong and we played (unusually) with it at our backs in the first half kicking towards the clubhouse...it soon became apparent that this was a good decision as the romford keeper could hardly get the ball into the centre of his own half and the urchins spent the first 10 minutes in his area...the inevitable goal came and then a second for blatant handball...at half time I wondered if it was enough as we could expect romford to punt balls into our area and keep the ball in there but the superb third goal from NC immediately after the restart put paid to proceedings really and it was then a game of romford long balls and urchin counter attacks...

I thought that mark reed's lads aquitted themselves well and never stopped running and battling but we were always to strong for them..I spoke to mark after the game and he was a little despondent but he gets his teams to perform and fight for him and the club and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them finish off the season well....we certainly will not be taking the two legs of the semi final against them lightly....

great crowd and a superb atmosphere around the ground and once again nice to see some NL faces in the stands and on the terraces...also nice to see Michael White (leader of havering council) in the stands as well...

the bar was packed after the game and good to see our two walking wounded in there as well...lets hope that gareth and nicky are not to sore this morning altho' I expect them both to miss a couple of games....(how can these boys not love us eh...as NC walked into the bar a chorus of 'let him die.. let him die.. let him die..' rang out.....)

left at tennish to carry the sozzled nett to bed and as I did the bar was still alive and rocking to 'take that' with everyone joining in....

fckn brilliant...

so a good day all around and many many thanks to all the hard working urchin staff and the supporters for making it such a good day for all...(loved the red smoke bomb at the end as well...can we get some more of these please...)

well done all and thanx....

Red smoke bomb was great! It just kept going and what with the players walking through the red mist it was quality
