Colin i dislike it because the words dont go with the music. thats my view but if you seperated the two then its good.

MAD, the juxtaposition of lyrics with music that does not appear, superficially, to be a suitable marriage is a compositional device that has been used throughout the history of music. My personal favourite example of this technique is the overlaying of the words from 'Bob The Builder' over Metallica's plodding and generally dull 'Enter Sandman' which can be found at www.boomselection.info together with several other classic 'bootlegs'.

 

In relation to MIM, I would contend, however, that the harsh whirring musicality of this particular Smiths track is specifcally designed to intensify the horror the relevant lyrics are attemting to convey.
