Heroes and Villains

Right then Urchins...two high profile sendings off which certainly cost you the three points, one under 21 welsh international and one Russian International with over 300 premier league games under his belt, both should know better methinks, lets hear your views, heroes or villains?

Kharine played gainst us for chelsea many times and I always thought he was excellent, one mistake doesn't make him expendable, stick with him and keep going, its been interesting whats been going on down there. full marks to you Urchins, The welshman was unlucky from what I can gather, so what, football players do get sent off, its an occupational hazard is it not? incidentally, I hope there's no racism down there, how about a good jewish boy in the squad!

We couldn't get to the away game yesterday because the boys had a birthday party to go to, we'll certainly be on the bus next time around. Incidentally, full marks to the club for the coach, it will no doubt be much used and proves again that the club are trying to do things properly. The incident with the Dimitri sending off has been much publicised in this mornings tabloids but I can't help think that the keeper must have been badly provoked to do such a thing, he is, after all, no stranger to the rough and tumble of football. Sadly seems to be another example of poor refereeing and indeed the foul on him, much discussed in said papers, should have negated his crime, led to his sending off but also a free kick to the urchins. As to the future, internal discipline perhaps, for him and Martin (who's actions seemed far more foolish in some ways than Kharine's) but you can't not support your players, all players do foolish things at times. If it had been one of last years outfield players, would anything have been said, would it have got in the papers, of course not, support both players and let's get on with winning this league. Come on you Urchins

Unfortunately Kharine received abuse from the handful of Berkhamsted supporters from the moment he stepped onto the pitch (is this the so-called 'non-league spirit' which everyone talks about ?) and from the conversations I heard (from Berkhamsted people), the Berkhamsted forward made a late challenge on him after he had gathered the ball. Kharine made a silly mistake, deserved a sending off for it, and you would expect someone with his experience to know better, but sometimes I wish the officials would see the whole incident (although clearly the referee didn't see any of it since he had to consult with his assistant who was actually further away.)

In answer to boroman, Martin's was a yellow card offence but it happened to be his second one so off he went. It was silly and very petty but I guess if that's the directive then we can't complain.

Left the bloody password in the office......old age I'm afraid..... Martin was sent off for a second yellow card after he came back on the pitch without the referee's permission, the fact that the referee obviously forgot that he was off the pitch (at least four minutes) didn't particulary go down well with anyone but nonetheless Martin should have known better. It was interesting to note also the Taff commited the cardinal sin of going off and coming back on from behind the goal, he really should know better. Dimitri was foolish, no question but he was battered all afternoon by forwards looking for a good story when they got to the local after the match, that's about the strength of it, there can be no excuse for what he did but I have no doubt that a better referee would have stopped a lot of what went on yesterday. Berko are a big robust team and they put themselves about a lot...having said that, we can hardly expect them to doff their caps as we sail past 'em can we. Villains yesterday perhaps, but heroes before and again, that's my verdict.

With the influx of pro football players into the non league set up, it strikes me that the referees and assistants are not keeping up with the way that the game is changing, five years ago it was unheard of for pro footballers to come into the pyramid outside of the conference, now there is quite obviously more money down here and the quality of the football has dramatically changed for the better, have the officials?

Thats a very good point. I've been saying for years that the standard of refereeing outside of the Barclaycard is diabolical and as always, I was right! Now then, over to this lad Kharsyine or whatever 'es called, in my day I would 'ave brought 'im in on the Monday, give 'im a good rollicking, fined 'im a tenner and then sent 'im out to play the next game. I've always 'ated armchair football fans, what use are they to this game, none at all. Big mouths and fat arses. Stand by the players, that's what you do, same as I would've done and everyone knows one thing about ol' Cloughie, I'm always right. Hey, you lot, we've got a lot in common, I never cared about what people said and nor should you. B******S to 'em all.

Heroes everyone of em, it was a disgraceful ref's performance (I was at the match and I am not an Urchin fan either) even with 9 men you nearly won the game, which you deserved to win anyway, ok, both players should and do know better but what the hell, [censored] happens in football matches. Play em again and forget it, ignore all the 'bleedin heart' armchair fans, what do they know, most of them never go to matches anyway. Just as a matter of interest to you, all teams are wary of you, thats a fact and probably all officials attending your games are just a little too partial as well. Get used to it. I'll be disappouinted if you don't stick by your players, lets see what your really made of down there. Stand firm.
