Can anyone shed any light as to why Foxy was taken off and replaced by Danny Cowley on Saturday? No offence to Cowley but he's just not in the same class!

no need to shed any light on it really, if you knew anything about football old son you would know that the substitution turned around the game and actually Danny was instrumental in winning it for us. Inspired subbie as well when Stowie came on, how can anyone question a managers decision when one sub scored and the other (indirectly by ruffling their feathers) got two players sent of which turned the game, (unless you have an ulterior motive) Hate to think what you'll be saying if we dare to lose a game one of these days!!!!... As to who is the better player, your opinion is your opinion and your entitled to it, personally I think that Danny is a different type of player to young foxy, but just as good. Mick made several changes on saturday and after those changes, we came from one down to win the game and take a valuable three points away, nuf said really... does that 'unconfuse' you? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Whatever_anim.gif" alt="" />

your confusion arises from your inability to differentiate between who is the best player ( and thats always a matter of personal opinion) and the reason why substitutions are made, mick didn't take foxy off and put cowley on because one was a better player than the other, he did it to change the pattern of the game and it did, substitutions are made for several reasons, a player may be having and off day, a player may have been targeted by the opposition and hasn't left his normal mark on the game, fresh legs...etc..etc.. a substitution is not indicative of a better player coming on for a worse player...common sense dictates that the original player was the first choice (again not because he was the better player but because the manager thought that he was the RIGHT player for that game) good managers will tell you however that there is no first or second choice, there is just a squad that all have a part to play in every game...no one's mentioned carter who hasn't seen action for a good while, personally, I think he was excellent when he came on and I wouldn't have to many problems sticking him on at the start next time, but I am not the manager and nor are you, so let mick get on with it and when we get it right, which we did with the substitutions on saturday, lets roll with it, when it goes wrong, well, I have no doubt that there will plenty of people that will have their say, do you know whats good about this season, seems as though plenty of people have opinions and that means that more people care, you don't need to be confused son, mick made the right decisions on saturday and you really should have been able to understand that. Foxys dad and the rest of his family think he is the best player in the country, and maybe one day he will be, but there again, so does every other players family and friends, including Danny's...... substitutions are about changing games and winning them, not about whos the best player. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

Two very sensible and accurate replies to a seriously bull***t post. God sakes,,, we're talking about a substitution here, humble apologies (on your behalf a******) to Danny who played extremely well and is an important, very important member of the squad.

 

Full marks to the responders but I think that the original post was pure jealous mischief making from a not very kind spirited person. Eat your heart out loser and carry on with the snide stuff, it won't stop us and it won't help you whatever your motives, if you haven't got it worked out yet, get this, nothing will stop us, whatever, whenever, we are on our way. Opinions are one thing, bullshit is instantly recognisable when posted by an amateur, you are dealing with seasoned campaigners here, think hard, remember that and keep your envious bullshit to yourself.
