Friendlies Mean More Than I Thought

Recommended Posts

Friendlies serve just one pupose imho, and that is to get the players ready for the new season. Anything else is largely irrelevent, and quite often a distraction.

Talking to some of the players, they all seem very focused on the job in hand, and are looking forward to the first game... Nathan's been warned to stay away from any doors <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

'Anything else is largely irrelevant'

Whilst I take your point that friendlies are mainly for bonding and increasing fitness, I hardly think thay are irrelevant as getting tonked 6-0 in one, will do no-ones confidence any good.

Maybe Bub...but I think Grays would disagree.

We beat them 5 zip in a pre season a couple of years ago and they went on to win the conf south that year.

Stimmo reckons that was the best pre season game he had that year because it taught his team not to be complacent, and it was a result he often reminded his players of.

Pre season games are only irrelevat if you gain or take nothing from them
