A brief summary of the game taken from the Brentwood website

 

[On Saturday, we entertained Canvey Island at The Arena. In a tight first half, neither side were able to break the deadlock although the Canvey forwards looked lively towards half time.

Following substantial substitutions and reorganising at half time, Canvey took the lead courtesy of a linesman mix up (who went AWOL) with the scorer hardly able to believe he had received a through ball when clearly nearly five yards offside.

Blues' heads dropped and they soon found themselves trailing 0-3. However, as the second half progressed, Brentwood pressed forward and were rewarded with two goals which put them in the driving seat. Canvey, however, were able to kill the game off with a fourth and eventually won 2-4./i]
