Thanks Lato, I cant believe that Oxhey Jets reserves played on thier home pitch and the game went ahead ! Either the rain did not fall as much there as other places, or something is odd, as their pitch is awfull at the best of times, even without lots of rain. Also odd that some of these clubs had games on, and some of the Prem sides had games off, again maybe the rain fell heavier in certain areas

Our pitch WAS very wet and muddy, but it was playable, I have seen a lot worse, and thanks to the good work of the groundsmand it went ahead.

Thanx Lato, Although both goals come in 80th minute! Was a typical cold and wet November game, not many shots and alot of battles all over the park - Thankfully won most of the time by Borough! Hope this is the kick start we needed but with Harefield out next port of call it seems an uphill struggle! on the subject of Tommy Lambourne Board level whispers is that he may be making his way over to Broxbourne?!!!!

<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" /> Great win yesterday for The 61 <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" />

First time we have beat Crawley Green for ages, they have been a real bogey side over the last few seasons, and we are only the second team to beat them this season after Edgware <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Bring on Ruislip Manor <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" />

I wish The 61Fc well for the rest of the season (except next Saturday obviously!). You are stringing some results together and will present a tricky task next week.

Cheers Lato, its been an unbelievable turn around, at the start of the season I would have said you would not only beat us but hammer us, now whilst you are still obviously favourites we will hopefully give you a good game and after knocking out Colney Heath in the previous round then who knows!

As I'm not going to be there, I'm hoping for a postponement. You beat Colney Heath and they beat us so who knows.

I would prefer the match to be the following week myself, but obviously I don't like postponements as its a wasted programme!!

If only football worked that logically!! it actually reminds me of the Unofficial Football World Champonships, where you can only become World Champions by beating the current holders in the same way Boxing Titles are contested, the current Unofficial World Champions are Georgia.

I've seen that website, AWK. it makes interesting reading..and even Poland got a chance to be champions under that ruling. Mind you if the researchers got one match wrong somehwere the whole thing is knackered.

It does make interesting reading, and in a way it is a good idea, after all how many times does the best team not win the World Cup.

I see Poland have won it 4 times Lato, though you are right one mistake and the whole thing from there on is wrong. I hope they get it checked and double checked!!

Technically, that is how the FA Cup should be run. It is officially known as the Football Association CHALLENGE Cup so the holders should automatically go through to the following season's Final with all the other entrants agreeing to challenge them for the cup. The one that remains get to challenge the holders in the Final.

I think we took it in 1982 during the 'real' World Cup. I also see the Netherlands Antilles had the title in the 60s. have you got the book AWK?

Mind you FIFA would never agree to it as a way to decide the world champions..not enough money involved!!!!

I believe thathat is how it started out PBT, the initial winners Wanderers went straight into the final the following season but the idea was then scrapped.

I haven't got the book yet Lato, I only found out about it recently. Personally I like the idea, as the web site says it does add excitment to what could normally be a meaningless friendly.

I enjoyed the Romania v Nigeria write up in the classic games. I'm sure our honourary Nigerian rhodes might have a word or two to say about that..it sounds almost as chaotic as KTFC going to Whitewebbs!!!

Lets just hope that Clement Temile didn't play in any of the four Nigeria title wins, can you imagine how excited Rhodes would be!!!

he'd be claiming Clement is a world chamipon wouldn't he and how marvellous it is that KTFC have a world cup winner guiding them to defeat in the Herts Centenary Trophy to a so called 'pub-side' (apologies to Whitewebbs).

But checking the Nigerian wins have all come since 2004 so I think Temile was not playing then. Though of course he has made many more appearances than the official figures suggest because the Nigerian FA are rubbish at record keeping. Who knows he might have popped up in one of them!
