coach to Hendon

Only one small area in the corner near the clubhouse which was muddy and had sand put on it already to firm it up!

There were clear blue skys with an absolute minimum risk of rain to make it worse.

Stag Meadow is worse than this for every game through the winter but they go ahead.

This is not knocking Windsor, but showing the incompetance of the officals to expect a perfect pitch in December!

Everyone wanted to play and Mark West and Wilko must have been ok about it as they would not want to risk injurying players on a dangerous pitch.

Hendon will now lose out as they will get a smaller attendance when the game is now played on a Tuesday night.

When will we get officials with some common sence in the Ryman?

Absolute shocker of a decision by Mr John Steel of Ely. Apologies to all those who travelled, but I think those who came in to look at the pitch agreed that the game should have been played.

hi all dave here oh well yet onother game off that i attended ref sorry to say diabolical as leaving it to the last minnute calling off as late as 1430 when proberbly new off game and also the bar takings as well as comfort of most fans already at hendon or arriving maybe no choice but to act but could he have stopped the majoority of away fans by calling off definatlty at 1300 and news would have filterd through to the fans on the coach to let most by car turn around before traveling to far

maidenhead last week and now hendon surely this is enough to upset evon the hardest of hard core slough fans at this situation should we all still be rallying round showing are support only just by the skin of are teeth

will windsors game against kings lynn in the trophey still go on if not we could be in reel bother with unneeded fixture pile ups and unnecercery mid week games

never mind what will be will be

up the rebels

To all at hendon..you were a credit to keep your cool heads, when quite clearly he wanted to get home...maybe he was going out tonight ???

To make matters worse he sent your boys to go and get some sand and did not even wait to see if the new sand would help the bit of the ground he was concerned about...

I think teams should ask for an fa enquiry ?? and ask them to refund all the hard money our supporters had to pay for a wasted trip !

Thanks to all at hendon..we know it was not your fault !

cheers and all at STST chris sliski secretary

Gary McCann gave an interesting explanation of the decision. The affected area wasn't even on the pitch, but was the muddy area between the pitch and the spectator's area. He said that the ref was concerned that any player sliding would not have been stopped, and might have crashed into the railings.

I don't understand why he didn't look totally convinced by this explanation.

Absolutely crap decision, every slough and hendon player and official wanted the game to go ahead.

Luckily i was in Finchley for the day, otherwise what a wasted journey - i'm sure Horsham Rebel wasn't too chuffed.

Still, as Matt Miller said - slough now haven't lost in three weeks!

As you can (now) see, the pitch was fine, apart from the muddy patch.

Both managers and teams wanted the game to go ahead, and continued arguing the fact. Why couldn't the ref (Mr John Steel of Ely) had said... OK, we'll try 10 minutes, and see.

Players slide off the pitch all the time, and we have played on much worse pitches than that.

I think it an absolute disgrace.

I got talking to the guy who went to get the sand, and he said that after returning with the second load of sand, the ref wasn't even there.

Also, the ref was inspecting the pitch at 1.30pm, so why was the game officially called off at 2:40ish.

So, thanks to the ref, we have all of our fans out of pocket with travelling fees, and Hendon out of pocket for all the sand they bought. I know we are not talking about a lot of money, but that is not the point.

Any team that has Mr John Steel of Ely as a referee between now and March, be aware that your game will probably be called off.

OK. Rant over <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />
