promotion to step 4

Recommended Posts

on the another web-site there was a list of the teams that have applied by the deadline on the 30th november.what i noticed, there were some leagues were only 1 or 2 teams have applied and all these applications will have to get the grading by april as well as finishing in the top 3 to even be considered!probably some of them won't even get the grading, others won't finish in the top 3 places and some will drop out by the time april will come.15 leagues and 12 places available:a big rebus thanks to our FA love for puzzles! with this new division at step 4,there could be more places available in the north.as usual there are rumours of no teams relegated from step 4 or more teams promoted from step 5 or even play-offs at the end of the season!definitely a real muddle the clubs are left with this Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads till probably the last few weeks of the season regarding the ESL,we have 5 clubs that have applied:Brentwood,Barking,Concord,Barkingside and Burnham Ramblers. Now please, we would like to hear from anyone interested and in particular from our nice League Chairman any updates on the matter.

ps:quite surprising Romford hasn't applied for it...rush green is not up to it or else?

Hi everyone, here we are again and its promotion talk time once more. I can confirm that the five clubs mentioned have all applied for promotion from the ESL but that there is only supposed to be one place for grabs and that is the Winner - I say " supposed " as I am, like many of you , getting used to finding that the goalposts change suddenly in the New Year.

Having said all this, I personally think that as there are more promotion spots than Step 4 places available, then I do not imagine any second placed club will be considered. What has amazed me also, are the very limited candidates from some leagues - although all 14 Step 5 leagues are represented. No mention has been made to me at this juncture about play-offs.

I make no excuse for blowing our own trumpet but we should be very proud that five clubs feel that they can achieve a Step 4 grading. I understand that 74 clubs have applied though many in the North have a better chance as the promotion is different with the new Step 4 Unibond division in the pipeline.

Now, before anyone poses the question : " What if none of the five come top, do we get anyone coming down ? " - well all I can say is that I will always fight for new clubs and would not wish to say that was impossibility but we shall have to wait and see !
