With a deathtoll of the tsuanami reaching 100,000 I was delighted to hear a friend in Sri Lanka was alive and well. The problem they most fear now is no drinking water and lack of food.

If folks have been moved by the pictures of this disaster on the tv you can send money to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), all wonderful UK based charities. My intention will be to send money via my friend who has been on the ground there for about 10 years so I know my friend will use it wisely to help the people and I trust his judgement.

Glad about that. Always liked him, even though he is French !!
