i often see buzzards aroundd dorking and especially further south ie places like horsham

I think my robins are related. They are always together.

 

A friend was round the other day and corrected me. The birds i thought are finches are actually blue tits. Very pretty little things. The robins usually appear at the same time as them.

 

Dagger, you are right about how greedy the squirrels are. There is no point in me hanging dough balls anymore. They take them apart within seconds.

The robins will almost certainly be a male/female pair.

 

Very rare for two male robins to share the same territory, except in the Eden Project, apparently.

it is rare for males to share same territory but juveniles often hang around for months close to the adults territory and females are usually present close by

most pairs usually have between 4-6 eggs in two broods,the robin is a social bird which tends to stay as a family group although the younger birds will fledge they will never be far away from their parents

yep,never seen the american robin thought,only in books although i believe there are the odd record in this country usually in the west of britain and ireland

The American Robin is a familiar sight pulling up worms on suburban lawns.

UM - there was one in Peckham last year - it was a long stayer but did not get reported for some weeks. Then of course, it left the following day. They are bigger than the English version, but do not really look like a robin.

didn't hear about the one in peckham,i am sure i heard of some in the outer hebrides,scilly isles and Ireland and also i am sure one was recorded at leighton moss,lancs or close by

Best bird in the garden since we moved up here would be a chaffinch, when we lived in Ruislip probably the Jay.

 

Did see some parakeets in the trees at the football club once, thought it was the amber nectar making me see things but apparently there are some in Twickenham as well, and Richmond park.

 

I rather like Magpies.

there are big flocks in south west london,especially around esher,twickenham and richmond but for some reason they are starting to spread out more and more recently

There are about 6 Parakeets next to Hartsdown Park. The Island (Thanet) is slowly getting more and more populated by them are now quite a common sight.
