Concord Rangers Res 2-3 White Ensign

Recommended Posts

The Reserves concluded their pre-season schedule with a diappointing result against their Olympian league opposition. Ensign included former Great Wakering Rovers winger Dean Pearson, and ex-Concord stopper Richard Bastin in their line-up.

Concord looked comfortable when in possession, with the back line being marshalled by the impressive centre-back pairing of Lewis Harris and Tyler Phillips, backed up by the ever vocal Michael Collier between the sticks.

Concord's 1st goal came from a fine longe range pass from Gary Ogilvie, which found ex-East Thurrock United man Lawrenece Smith in acres on the right hand side. Smith took the ball past 2 players befor calmly chipping the ball over the sliding 'keeper to start off wht would be a superb debut performance from the youngster.

Concord lost player-coach Lee Thorne to a calf injury during the first half, a recurrence of his deadly cramp from Saturday, Thorne himself deciding not to risk his chances for the opening league game on Saturday, being replaced by Dan Dulieu.

Ensign attacked mostly through long-ball football, and at times were out-classed by the ball playing ability of a talented Concord Side, Robbie Atkinson bossing the midfield 3rd, playing simple but attractive football.

The 2nd half, there was a lot of shape lost, with the introduction of numerous substitutes, and Ensign pressed on to claim their goals.

One plus point was Concord's second, scored by Jason Syrett, great play down the right involving Dave Burton and Jack Reed, left syrett to beat his man, and slotted home clinically.

The Reserves have Heybridge Swifts @ Thames Road this saturday, in the opening game of their Essex and Hert Border competition, and will look to continue their good progress so far.

Its going ok mate. Im not so stressed out trying to get to training / games so im enjoying my football again.

Great win for us on Saturday @ Wivenhoe, considering they just signed a couple of youngsters from MK Dons, and have massive wage bill.

Well, not much....

Fair enough, thats what it's all about.....

They've bombed their Res side so they can throw more dough at the 1st team, so yes, quality result, who's up next?

There you go quoting our players again, English must have turned you over or something (from what I've been told though, it wouldn't be too hard), maybe nicked your bird or something, you really hold that grudge though!
