Although I doubt he would take the job anyway, if he did imagine how popular Savage would be at Stonebridge Road after his remarks about Roy Essandoh when he was called into the Irish squad a few years back

The story has been updated by the BBC and the deal for Savage wont now be happening it seems :-

 

 

Savage, 33, was linked with a player-coach role at the Racecourse with Wales assistant boss Dean Saunders in charge after manager Brian Little's exit.

 

But chairman Geoff Moss said their bid for the unwanted Savage was for a spell on loan, which was called off by Derby.

 

"Unfortunately there seems to have been a problem, which has meant the deal will now not go ahead," he said.

 

"It looked likely we would have been able to bring in Robbie on loan, especially with a couple of players out injured at the moment.

 

"The player was keen on the opportunity and it seemed to be within our finances to allow us to bring him in.

 

"It's a shame for Robbie, who was all for the idea, and we certainly could have done with someone of his quality in our squad."

Savage is now joining Brighton & Hove Albion on loan.
