Sorry to tell you this gary, but your tactics were completely ignored by liam and the team.

I did think there was less long ball than recently, however. That said, it was no better than what's come before anyway!

Until we went behind, I was thinking what a good game it was, between 2 teams trying to play decent passing football, with a ref who was prepared to let the game flow - such a contrast with the bow locks of the Hoofit Histon match.

 

Then Luke missed a pass in a dangerous attacking move for us, they broke straight up field, had bad luck hitting the post, got the rub of the green with the rebound; a cool pull back & finish & bingo down went the heads. The 2nd goal was a real sucker punch: almost as if the defence forgot you cannot be offside from a throw in - guy who crossed clean through from a throw in a no threat position. We tried for 10 minutes or so to fight our way back; then descended into the traditional long ball approach, with everyone sitting on the half way line every time Lance had the ball. Mrs S remarked that in the 2nd half Torquay looked like a professional side; we, alas, did not.
