Piggy in the Middle!

Is there anyone who cares about whether the two clubs merge or not who isn't already an active supporter of one of the two clubs? I can't imagine that there are many people who would come and watch if only we would merge. They'll come and watch once we start playing at a higher level with a decent ground.

I think your wrong. I think a lot of people in the area would like the clubs to merge.

And maybe if there was a realistic prospect of one of the clubs playing at a higher level in a decent ground it wouldnt matter so much. But that doesnt look like happening.
ETFC will be playing at an athletics ground and 1893 are stuck in ware.

Quite possibly, but I suspect they are already involved with one of the two clubs. Some of the previous posts give the impression that if the clubs were to merge, there would be a significant increase in the attendance, above and beyond the average for the two clubs combined. I have spoken to many people who followed EFC back in the Southbury Road days who no longer support either club. The thing they all want is a local club playing in the Conference, none of them mention a merger. Still, you're mileage may vary, as they say.

I agree. A merger is not what is needed. A local succesful club playing higher up the pyramid will attract bigger crowds.
