Dorking FC 2 - Mole Valley SCR 2

Dorking drew their first friendly of the season against a MV SCR side that they just pipped for promotion last season. The game was played at the Big Field, Brockham, courtsey of Dorking RFC and Dorking FC's affiliated youth side Brockham Badgers FC, allowing extra time for Dorking's Meadowbank ground to recouperate after the recent intense hot spell.

Dorking used this game to have a look at the trialists that have been training with the squad in pre-season, with only Dan Clayton, John Kennedy and Martin Waldren starting the game from last years squad, the rest of the first team squad using the opportunity to train seperately in readiness for the weekend friendly.

The game itself was curtailed with the referee calling an end to proceedings with 15 minutes left of the second half due to the lightning flashing overhead.

The game itself was played competitively but in a good spirit and it was MVSCR who took the lead in the first half after a couple of defensive errors the ball striking an attacker and finding the bootom corner. Chances for both sides came and went in the first half and it ended 0-1.

Dorking put another 4 trialists on in the 2nd half, changed the formation and started the half very brightly. 2 well finished chances put us 2-1 up and another couple of chances went begging.

MVSCR equalised just before what turned out to be the final whistle when a mix up at the back from a long ball into the box presented the attacker with an open goal.

Final Score 2-2. Overall, a pleasing start to the friendlies and Manager Tony Webb will now have to make a decision of who to add to his first team squad for the next fixtures against Merstham and Leatherhead, both to be played at the Big Field, Brockham.
