I love the way all these Clubs keep whining that we have no history or past glories.

 

So ok, we do have a solid financial backer in Jeff King, doesn't every football club have income like this? Look what happened to Braintree! Two backers pulled out, their manager got sacked, half of their best players were poached, (Thanks for Gav & Ollie by the way! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) and they were threatened with relegation for most of the season.

 

Ok Billericay can blag that they've been to Wembley...in the VASE!!! It was just our luck that the FA decided to re-build the place when we got there!

 

It's ok to think that we don't have any history, it's true before 10 years ago we had nothing. But what you scummers fail to realise is that while all your best players are leaving and your money leaking away before you move to Basildon...Canvey Island FC are making their history NOW!!

 

An FA Trophy win, (when did Billericay last win that?) 3rd Round of the FA Cup at Burnley who were sitting at the top of Div 1. and knocking on the door of the Premiership at the time. 2nd round of the FA Cup live on Match of the Day, Runners up in the Isthmian League 3 years running, we could've and some say we should've beat Farnborough to the title the year we won the Trophy, (when were Billericay last in the Conference?) All this builds up a nice reputation and CV for everyone at the Club to when we finally make history again and DO reach the Conference!

 

So while Billericay fans can live on their past glories and memories of going to Wembley. Canvey Island fans can live the moment now and look success right in the face, for things can only get better for our little Pub team from Essex!!!
