Once again CROYDON ARENA proved itself as the Premier surface in the C.C.L.,And a Groundshare with Municipal at that.Whilst many other games were called off,the playing surface was true and without any wet patches at all.Chertsey fell into the trap of not respecting Teams in a lower position in this League, by leaving J. Pomroy on the bench until the last 5 minutes of the game.Croydon only had 1 shot at the Chertsey goal in the first 45,and to be honest which I always am neither keeper had a genuine save to make.Chertsey started the 2nd half brightly and the goal they scored, which was dubios to say the least ,as the Linesman had to think about it for at least 5 secs,after it had hit the bar and post,was hardly a convincing decision by him.This sprung Dixon Gill into making 2 Substitutions,the main one being the influential T. Fennessy,who was told last Saturday by a Consultant at West Middlesex Hospital,that he had Medial Ligament Damage of the right knee,be it only grade 1,not to play for 2/3 weeks.and to rest it.He did this during the week,which meant he lost £400 in wages,so if anyone ever says there is no loyalty by Players to a Club,I may bite their heads off.Croydon duly started to play a passing game which culminated in an equaliser.Yes Chertsey did miss a Penalty,but Croydon did have 2 chances to Win the game late on.Having seen Camberley,Chertsey,Badshot Lea,Epsom and Ewell,Sandhurst this season, N.G.U. must be a shoe in for the Title,as the above Teams were no more than MEDIOCRE.
