Bethnal withdraw from League Cup

Recommended Posts

Bethnal Green have withdrawn from this years League Cup.After the fiasco of the Eton Manor penalty shoot-out and being told to replay the game at there own expence the Club decided they feel let down so would play no further part in the competition.Bethnal Green would like to apologise to all other clubs in regard to this who backed them with the hearing of the League Committee!

I don't feel that Bethnal Green should apologise to anyone.Good on them for standing up for what they believe.

Agree with EU, sometimes to have to make a stand and accept the consequences, whatever they may be.

When you see how Hornchurch have been stitched up by Thurrock and the Essex FA in their Essex cup tie tonight, you realise what a bunch of corrupt individuals actually run the game.

I wished that we had pulled out of tonights fixture, instead the fans will protest against the decision

Bethnal Green should never have been put in this position. Surely, we have to remember this is SPORT!. Eton Manor should have been the ones to pull out rather than accept the position that BGU have been put in. Quite extraordinary that the one party who have done nothing wrong end up being punished!!!!. Shame on Eton Manor!

Yes the referee was clearly wrong but Eton Manor lost!. They know they lost and to pursue the case that has resulted in the end of BGU's cup run is a poor show . Eton Manor should do the correct thing and inform the League that they are withdrawing and allow BGU to stay in the competition. This is nothing to do with who should pay for the rearranged game ,if an appeal had not been made the situation would have been avoided, its a morality issue and that falls firmly at the door of Eton Manor.

Apparently Paul Norris works with or knows some legal people and they drafted a letter which terrified the league and they backed down. If the game was replayed then the league should have met the cost or it be halved between both clubs. To make a club with no money pay again when they have done nothing wrong is out of order. Lets also not forget that the reason the situation arose was because an Eton Manor player was sent off! Bethnal Green have been punished when it was due to a bad tackle from an Eton Manor player.
