RACE FOR THE PREMIER DIVISION TITLE

Recommended Posts

Just written a small article on the cold end re the SSMFL race for the title and how close it is between Royston Town and the two Dunstables. http://thecoldend.blogspot.com/2012/02/spartan-south-midlands-league-premier.html

Royston play their game in hand on Tuesday night at Tring Athletic which could be a really decent game.

Royston's record against AFC and Town reads at present three games and three defeats. Could this be their downfall??

Two dates for your diary -

Dunstable Derby Part 2 - Saturday 17th March

Royston Town v AFC Dunstable - Saturday 31st March.

It's too hard to predict which team is going to win the league???

Bedfordshire or Hertfordshire??

I agree ref off ref. No one would of predicted AFC Dunstable would of been involved in the title race this season. I saw them run Grays close in the FA CUP where they played really well.

Could it go down to the last day of the season?

It's nice to see a well run club go from Division 2 to challenging for the Prem title, without solely doing it by paying out loads of money. A really well run club who built up from the youth section and are seeing real benefits.

Some nice comments peeps appreciated, and it is nice to get recognition for how far we have come in a short time. Honestly though, I do think Dunce Toon have the easier run in, especially because in our case we have to still play both Royston and Dunstable, which means that we have to win both to realistically stay in the race. Dunce Toon have noticeably upped their game in recent weeks, which will make the derby fierier and more significant in a couple of weeks time. Bring it on!
