Beano
The North Greenford United Chairman said after the game that he felt that, had the one-on-one Samad forced with the goalkeeper in the sixth minute resulted in a goal, then we would have won the match. The fact that Samad was clipped by the defender as he attempted to set himself to shoot wasn't noticed by the referee, who couldn't have seen it from the angle he had and Samad, typically, stayed on his feet when he might have gone down, meaning his shot wasn't as well struck as it might have been. On such fine margins are seasons decided; that was the best opportunity to score we had all day, mainly because our forwards was caught offside approximately 206 times, which was hugely frustrating to watch. And, although we dominated the first quarter of the match, once we allowed NGU a simple goal to give them the lead, it was always going to be difficult to turn the match around. On the balance of play, I can't really quibble with the scoreline because Tyler had to make a number of good saves in the second half. Worse still is the fact that, barring two wins in our remaining games and a 16 goal swing in our favour to NGU's detriment, we cannot now finish above 21st. However, one win in the last two matches should take us off the bottom of the division, which, because of issues at other clubs, could well keep us at this level. It's not all bad, either. When the lads did get the ball down and play, there was some encouraging stuff on display, especially in midfield and if we can keep this group together, next season should be significantly better than this, wherever we end up. MarkT
I make you right Gareth, this side has not had time or that bit of luck to make an impact, they have all had a seasons experience at this level now and will come back stronger next season. They will need a few old heads in there with them but potentially this group will be a great side for years to come, keeping the group together will be difficult as is every close season/pre season. They are a tight nit group so there's a positive
