Ebbsfleet United announce their release list of 11 players including Dominic Poleon & Rakish Bingham.

With Ebbsfleet being so far adrift in the National League this season it’s difficult to see these players getting approaches from any other National League clubs.

Possibly… but I bet you they’ll be a queue of clubs in our division after them!

Unsurprisingly, Dagenham & Redbridge have sacked their manager Lewis Young.

Among the several possible candidates on this Dagenham fans radar is Scotty.

They came to a compensation agreement to buy him out of his contract.

A bit similar to what Maidenhead would have to do with Devonshire if they decided to sack him which now looks unlikely.

Due to going full time Chelmsford are losing a few of their players including forward Charlie Ruff.

Always looked a very decent player when I've seen him play and would be a great addition for any club.

Chelmsford announced their released / retained list. Only offered 3 players from this year and negotiating with 2 others. 16 released. Big shift for them coming.

I’m guessing a lot of those released can’t commit to full time football or don’t want to. There will be many earning decent day job wages plus their footy which may well be alot more than going full time at this level. Would you risk that? Can fully understand especially when you might only be offered a 1 year contract.

Billericay have done some good business in signing Liam Nash and Ryan Scott under the guidance of Gary McCann ex Rebel,  could be contenders for promotion to the national league south next season, considering they lost to Dover in play offs, decent set up and ground too, possibly a big budget

We had that exact conversation this afternoon Glen. Depending on people's careers and what type of money they are on, it's might also fall on the club not being able to afford players that are currently doing 2 jobs. I suspect being a pro sounds like a great thing (and I'm sure I'm many cases it is) but certainly at this level, the transition between semi and pro must be a tough one, especially when you have teams like Farnham and Bracknell splashing the cash around for part time playersas well.

An average day job wage plus step 2 football I’d estimate is around £55k. There won’t be many clubs at step 2 who could afford to pay 20 players at least that (circa £1.1m). Plus if you’re a player you’re probably going to want a bit more to take the risk of giving up your day job for a career which may not last long as a full timer.

Amazingly, that's about the average we got too as well. The maths for more "senior" players, perhaps with a wife or girlfriend and kid/s just isn't going to make sense IMO. For younger lads with little to no "responsibilty" it's probably worth taking the risk as you haven't got that much to lose really, but for those others, 100% too problematic.

What are these figures for an average step 2 footballer and an average wage?

Average wage in the Uk around 35k

Average wage for a step 2 footballer?

Average weekly wage for a step 2 part time footballer I’d say is around £500 (x40 weeks =20,000).

St Albans shedding players at a rate of knots.

Including Shaun Jeffers who only a couple of seasons ago was the leagues top striker and much sought after.

Now 33 and a regular on the bench with a seasons goal tally of 7.

Certainly been a rapid decline for Jeffers.

I like the look of Gio Rusalo midfielder who's just left St Albans.

There seems to be so many more teams with cash on the hip, it’s so frustrating as it makes it even harder for clubs like ours just to stay up! Why can’t we have a bit of this big investment, why are these people not attracted to a club like us? What’s wrong with us!!!
