It was no surprise that he was moving on…. but very disappointing to see him moving sideways at a time when we are seeing so many players leaving us & progressing their football careers.

Bayliss won't be the first or the last to move sideways or even downwards when they see the £ signs.

Apparently he got himself an agent who's been touting him around for most of the second half of the season.

It's pretty obvious that he wanted more money to stay and we were not prepared to match the offers that were made to him by other clubs like Chesham.

I've no problem with players leaving for more money if only they could be honest about it.

Not if he got him the most money!

I would have thought he would have got £50-£60k a year if he had got a move to Step 1….. if would be surprised if Chesham are paying him anything like that to play part-time for them.

And why wouldn’t he think a bit longer term…. if he had gone to a Step 1 club & impressed his next move could have been to the Football League and a substantial salary.

I can only think that he sees Step 2 as being the highest level he wants or feels capable of playing.

Plus he’s 26 so football league opportunities have passed him. As I said it’ll be interesting to know if any step 1 clubs made an enquiry. For all we know maybe one did but didn’t offer enough in his mind.

I'm amazed that he's dropping down 2 divisions to play at Step 4. He's much better than that!

Football v Life balance. Close to home and less travelling and also one of the first names on the sheet so guaranteed playing time when he is fully available. Probably a few quid as well. What's not to like.

He is much better than that but it fits exactly with why he said he was leaving; closer to home and at a level that will make less demands on his time.

Proper club though Hitchin in my opinion.
