Chelmsford Appoint Three New Directors

FF News

At a Board meeting held prior to this weekend's AGM the Executive Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint three new Executive Directors.

Derek Murr steps up from his role as a non-Executive Director and will continue to cover Media as well as his involvement in other areas, including Commercial and the Club Review.

David Selby returns to the main Board having previously served as an Executive Director between 1997 and 2003. David also steps up from his role as a non-Executive Director and retains responsibility for Match Day Operations as well as continuing as Company Secretary. Like Derek Murr he will continue to be involved in other areas.

"Trevor Smith said that their efforts be rewarded. "
Alistair Whipps joins the main Board with responsibility for Legal and HR. Alistair previously attended Board meetings as a Supporters Club Representative and has assisted the Board as a Legal/HR consultant.

At the meeting following the AGM Chairman Trevor Smith advised those present that as both Mr. Murr and Mr. Selby were now retired they were both contributing a lot of time working on Club and Company matters and he felt that it was only right that this effort be rewarded. There has not been a legal representative on the Board since Brian Connolly stepped down some years ago and it was felt that the Board would be strengthened by appointing Mr. Whipps to cover this area of responsibility, as well as Human Resources.

All three appointments are, of course, subject to the individuals passing the Football Association's Director and Owners Test (previously the Fit and Proper Person Test). It is anticipated that this process should take approximately 14 days.
