FF News
Retford United have held an emergency meeting this week in their first steps to stabilise the club after a dramatic few days at the Jones Hampton head to Leiston this weekend – and manager Alan Dowson suggests it's an opportunity to push the gap between ourselves and the bottom four even further. Following two fantastic back-to-back wins over Harrow Borough and title-chasing Dulwich, the Beavers are all set for Suffolk looking to make it a hat-trick of victories. The team will face a big challenge against ninth-place Leiston, despite the play-off hopefuls suffered two straight losses – at Met Police last Saturday, and before that at East Thurrock United. They too managed to beat Dulwich in January but Dowson says confidence in our camp is sky high at the moment ahead of the mammoth eight-hour round trip. He said: "It's a long way, but we go into the game in good form, it's got to be said I am happy with our start to 2015 – the team are playing well and defensively we have improved massively. That always gives you a chance. "The win against Dulwich shows what we can achieve. We played well against one of the top sides in the league. We can hold our own. "Saturday's a long old trip for us but we've got to prepare properly. It's a chance for us to claw ourselves that little bit closer to safety."
