FF News
Forest Green Rovers have been boosted by the news that Marcus Kelly has agreed a one-year contract extension that will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2016. The 28-year-old will now line up as a FGR player for a third consecutive season having agreed to continue his stay at The New Lawn. It provides a major boost, with Kelly having impressed hugely since signing in July 2013, and he was pleased to have put pen to paper on another year at the club. “It’s nice to get it sorted and now I want to concentrate on the rest of the season,” he said. “We’ve got big games coming up so we’re going to try and cement ourselves in the play-offs. “It’s a great club to be at. It’s very ambitious. We want to get into the League and that is where I want to be as well.” He originally joined as a trialist and earned a one-year deal, and in his first season won the Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards. The former Rushden & Diamonds man also hit the back of the net nine times – including a hat-trick on the opening day of the 2013-14 season. In the current campaign he has been utilised in a left back position, where his fine showings have recently landed him with the captain’s armband. He joins Danny Coles and Jon Parkin in recently agreeing to stay at the club until the end of next season.
