"The younger members of the Peterborough United squad are spending the Christmas period on-loan at non-league clubs to keep match-fit ahead of January when the reserve league re-starts.

Ryan Semple scored the second goal in Farnborough's shock 2-0 win at Barnet in the Nationwide Conference, while Mark Coulson was amongst the scorers for Hitchin Town in their 5-2 home reverse against Billericay. Irishman Rory Hutton is also on a month's loan at Hitchin - the side Matt Nolan played for before joining Posh.

Shane Huke is spending a month on-loan at Ryman Premier League outfit Bedford Town, while Jamaican under 23 star Bradley Thomas is currently playing for St. Albans. Midfield man Luke Kennedy is at Deeping while goalkeeper Luke McShane was set to play in goal for Stamford, but their game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Posh coach John Morling told theposh.com: 'It is good first team experience for them, but it is also important for the younger lads to be playing games because the reserve league takes a break until mid-January. They are young professionals now and we want them to be playing over Christmas.

'It is good for them to be playing at the standard they are week in, week out and it is important that when the reserve league re-starts that they are match-fit. It will be a good time for the players, but it will also be tough as they will be coming up against stronger opponents,' Morling said.

The reserve team friendly at St. Albans this evening has been postponed. Jamaican international Andy Williams was set to play in that fixture."
