Well, well. What a turn about this all is.

Never liked him myself. He has such an irrational line of argument.

I remember one particular programme years back, when they were discussing the monarchy. One studio participant voiced the opinion that she would prefer Britain to be a modern republic.

Ol' Kilroy jumps in: "That's just like the Nazis" !!!

What???

That's nothing like the Nazis!

Perhaps he was just Going for a Gong.

Mind you, this time round he has voiced what a lot of people have been thinking.

Oh, I remember the good ol' days when the Arabs were technologically advanced, were a major source of academic learning, and did much to preserve the writings of the Ancient Greeks. Sometime between 900AD-1200AD wasn't it?

Well said Mala !

Personally, I find K-S too smooth and greasy.

Well, he is an EX M.P. after all ! Watcher expect ???

The trouble with this one, though, is basically, he's right.

NO - I'm not starting a new racist argument, just voicing a personal opinion on some elements of that part of the world !

Very Interesting.

Didn't see the programme on TV this morning, just the news this evening.

K-S defended himself, saying he stands by what he said in his articles.

I must admit, that takes guts in this raving mad P.C. world !

I think the BBC wants to grow a new pair of balls!

The Voltaire cliche - "I don't like what you say, but I defend your right to say it" was never more applicable.

Never heard this sort of reaction when anyone in the media has said any of the following:

The French are dirty, have bad breath, and are all snail eaters.

The Germans have no sense of humour.

The Spanish are lazy.

The English are pompous and sexually repressed.

The Irish are stupid drunks.

The Scots are tight.

You know I'm not rascist, but I can't help feeling that the Muslim League have given KS's comments far too much coverage than they deserve.

I don't even read the Express..and I'd never have known about his comments if it weren't for their crying.

Still...as you say...better not stir up the Gravesend lot!!

I'll risk it, Invis...........

Identical wording in two articles by K-S in Sexpress, 04.01/04, Headline: WE OWE ARABS NOTHING" & 06/04/03. Headline: "US, LOATHSOME ? SHAME ON THEM"

QUOTE:

Thanks BJR. Not nearly as controversial as I thought!

Does beg a few questions about cultural differences though. Put another way, is there an absolute right and wrong, or are they human constructs? Clearly it's the latter, anyone but a deeply misguided religious person would surely agree. Therefore what is just and right for one group may be considered loathsome and foul for another. Remember we - the west - opressed women until a only few years ago, apartheid was practised in the US until the 60's, and the yanks still practise capital punishment - including on quite young people (someone can no doubt inform me of the figure) so we're not that far ahead.

However (calm down Unc and pabird) surely it CAN be taken as a universal wrong (evil if you like) to cause harm or suffering to another human being (some would argue to another living creature) other than in self defence. Or possibly exterminating gooners.

Therefore notwithstanding the above, I don't totally disagree the KS. loathsome pompous self satisfied oily git that he is.

And it's only Monday!

That's not what Kilroy said at all UB

I will address that point in a minute but first lets deal with Mr Silk. The comments made by silk did not in my opinon warrant the programme being taken off the air, the BBC over-reacted but what worries me is the sturge of the righ-wingers that are using this. Freedom of speech is a very dodgy line i feel if a man says "burn all jews, muslims and homosexuals" he should not be able to voice his prejudice in a media outlet but Mr silk complained about a regime.

People know my views on Asylum seekers, refugees or as the Daily Nail would write freeloading aids carying rapists, so i'm not going to go back on to it. But your country UB you are under 18 should you have more say than a muslim man has lived here for a 70 years but was born in Iraq is it his country. As for the point about the bombs no i wouldn't run to Iraq but i might to France or Belgium. I was pro the war but we can't go to wars against Iraq, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan and not expect people to come hear for a haven.

Well, you can expect them not to, especially when there are about 20 odd different countries in between them and the UK.
The "rules" governing assylum state that a person must produce themselves to the authorities at the first available safe haven.
I take it Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Israel, Turkey, and the Ukraine are incredibly hostile places. [And that's only heading in a westward direction.] Or is it that they are being passed onto Britain?

Or is it Shell Haven they're seeking? Or even a Haven Holiday?

I Know What He Said Urchino, About Everyone Being Bombers etc ...

Urchino,

Wouldn't Have To Think About Your Post, If They Weren't Here In The First Place ! I Went Into London Earlier (Bow) Today Everywhere You Look There Are 'Halal' Food Shops. I Know They Need To Cater For Their Community But How Many Bloody Shops Do They Want ! And Everywhere You Look There Are Hardly Any White People What So Ever. I Am Not Racist Just A Bit Fed Up Of Asians,Blacks etc Taking Advantage !

Kilroy hardly mentioned Imigration !!

What do Asian's and Blacks have to do with imigration at the moment ?? (In the last years the majority of refugees come from Iraq Former Yougoslavia Republics and Afghanistan how many Blacks and Asians come from Tikrit ??)

What evidence do you have of "Black's, Asian's taking advantage" anymore than whites ?

As for Halal shops...easy they pay rent they can have what they bloody like there, would it be ok if it was Fish and Chips or pie and mash everywhere ?

A side note i know your not Racist !, if you know it stop saying i'm not racist it sounds like you are reasuring yourself.

U23 there!s really good stuff in what your posting but unfortunately older Londoners will always be "perceived" as rascist because of their loss

They grew up in a London that had hundreds of years of history which included major influx from time to time of immigrants

Those immigrants were welcomed and became part of the wonderful backcloth that is London

Recent history has seen altogether different change in how those (now) older Londoners have to live

Planners allowed entire districts of London to be given over to ethnic incomers, entire areas of London changed to such an extent the Londoner born of a line of Londoners is now a stranger in his home town

Attempt to understand the natural reaction

I honestly do hear what your saying 'pabird' but my point is not; that people do not have a certain amount of animosity to immigrants this is evident in the rise of the extreme right-wing who play on peoples fear's. My fear is that the majority of the (for want of a better word) crap that people are starting to believe is utter rubbish made up by people and media who wish Britain,England etc....was not as multicultural as it is. When i walk around East London i do not fear nor detest the fact that there are a nummber of different ethnic communitities, i love Britain for that very same reason.
