Dunstable Town

Recommended Posts

Just starting a thread on Dunstable Town that can be used in future. I see from the local Dunstable press yesterday that the Club's former defender, Peter Kioso, has signed professionally for Luton Town, he had been at Hartlepool United since leaving Creasey Park but caught the eye of scouts from Kenilworth Road who paid an undisclosed fee to Hartlepool for him, I'm not sure whether Dunstable Town will see any of that money. Creasey Park appears to be somewhat of a breeding ground for talent with Nick Hayes joining Norwich City and Nathan Harness joining Charlton Athletic recently, the Club have been under achieving for many years now and who can ever forget George Best turning out for them in 1974 under then Manager Barry Fry:

I gather it was Dunstable Town Chairman Neil Barker's birthday yesterday so a belated Happy Birthday to him, Mr Barker followed in the footsteps of some legendary Chairmen such as Keith Cheeseman, who bankrolled Barry Fry in the early 70's albeit not with his own money, Steve Kaye, Roger Dance and more recently John McLoughlin and Alex Alexandrou who he took over the reins from fairly recently:

Over 300 photographs from Ashford Town (Middx) v Dunstable Town in a 2012/2013 FA Cup First Qualifying Round Replay on 11 September 2012, after an exciting 2-2 draw at Creasey Park. Ashford Town (Middx) won 3-0 after extra time following a hard fought ninety minutes, they were awarded two penalties during the extra period which knocked the stuffing out of the SSML Club. Dunstable Town did however go on to reach the FA Vase Third Round, lift both the Challenge Trophy and Bedfordshire FA Premier Cup and win the SSML Premier Division Championship that season with a record 114 points and went unbeaten:

Over 500 photographs from Slough Town v Dunstable Town in a 2017/18 Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division fixture  on 9 September 2017 which Slough Town won 8-1, although the result flattered them with the score 1-1 at the break and Aaron Hudson equalising for the Blues on 44 minutes, Slough netted three times in the dying embers of the game in front of a good attendance of 786. The Club finished bottom of the Premier Division that season and were sadly relegated again from Division One Central the following season to the SSML:

Photographs from Slough Town v Dunstable Town in a 2013/2014 Southern League Division One Central fixture on 22 February 2014, Slough Town won 4-0 arguably due to Dunstable Town's Kyle Anthony seeing red after only nine minutes of  the proceedings for a dangerous challenge with Slough taking the lead shortly afterwards and not really looking back although the score was still only 1-0 at the interval. Dunstable Town did however win the Division One Central Championship that season by one point from Rugby Town gaining promotion to the Southern League Premier Division and Step 3 level where they comfortably remained until the 2017/18 season when they were relegated and then, disappointingly, relegated again the following season to the SSML where they had not played since leaving in 2012/13, going that entire league season unbeaten and winning the Challenge Trophy and Bedfordshire FA Premier Cup:
