GREAT EASTERN

Recommended Posts

great eastern railways.. thats a name like say the post office where you know exactly what it is.. ok maybe they arn't great but they are railways that go east from london.. now with all the new franchises a few name changes could be expected the fenchurch street line is called C2C which i guess is some kind of witty reference to the fact that it runs from the capital to seaside, anyway this name works, most people call it that now and everyone seems to know what it is..

the liverpool street lines where renamed 'first great eastern' ok a bit pointless but you could live with it.. well i guess as they were sooo very cr.p at running a railway they have been replaced.. of course the new owners wanted a new name and what inspired choice did they come up with

'one' ........... thats it 'one' not only is it a bollox name for a railway it dosent even work in conversation..

how do i get to thorpe bay?.... ah you want to take the C"C line from etc etc

how do i get to prittlewell?.. ahh you want to take the one.... one what? one line? one train?

what [****!!****] dreamt that up..? but worse than dreaming up a name that you cant use they also chose a number, you dont need to be a brain surgeon to see where this is going..

the 6.40 'one' service will be leaving from platform 2....

fecking morons

Yeah, I had my first taste of this today. I thought the announcer was talking a forigen language. "the next train to arrive at platfrom two will be the 07.12 1 service. I thought she meant trains were now being timetabled down to seconds.

Changing the subject slightly. Does anybody do the Southend Vic to Liverpool Street line in the morning (in particular the 7.12 from Hockley). If so have you ever seen that very odd cpuple that get on at Wickford. The bloke is a tubby little guy with a beard in his fifties, and his other half is well im not sure. She/he is either a bird turning into a geezer or visa versa. She/he looks a bit like Kathy Burke and wears blokes cloths. They hold hands so I assume they are an item.

You beat me to it Canv.

Here is what I had typed on word for lunchtime.

“Reasons to be cheerful part three.”

Ok I have the ongoing problems with my Dad in hospital (on another thread) (which is occupying my thoughts) but determined to look on the positive side today.

Well, I have three reasons today, to be cheerful first is, “First Great Eastern Railways” have finished with their lies and incompetence on our Railways, the start of the new franchise began this morning into work, they have been taken over by a company called “One” something to do with National Express I understand. We ran on time and arrived at work to the timetable, good start. Especially as last night we were late for Great Eastern’s last commuter trip. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

2nd reason to be cheerful, is that I was told this morning, the School kids are on holiday, break up for Easter, for two weeks, from Monday the 5th, yippee, no lazy mum’s blocking up the roads to take little Jenny or Jackie to school. You do notice the difference in the 6 weeks holiday, Christmas, Easter etc you save about half hour in the morning; I can get to Chelmsford Station in 25 mins during the School holidays instead of an hour now.

3rd reason to be cheerful. No annoying kids taking up the full pavement walking 6-8 abreast for two weeks. (On another thread.)

Bliss.

Yes, things looking good.

also , which really annoys me, i believe you can now get onto the london bound platform from that side of the station.. the amount of times i had to run down that path at the back of the shops, thru the tunnel, back up that fecking hill, along the platform and over the bridge to catch a fking train ..

What a difference a day makes.

Morning train operated by "One" gets there on time and the evening train arrives 4 mins early.

Early Eastern need a dictionary to know what that means, well they needed a dictionary to know what on time means too.

Happy, Happy, Happy.
