Just remembered I've thrown the thing away now but saw that the main front page in the Yellow Advertiser was devoted about the proposed new stadium.

 

Something like the plans go forward next month to the planning committee, and if passed, plans for the stadium will be made towards the end of the year.

 

Also, said that the ground at Park Lane would be sold for housing for around £1m and that the money would go towards the new stadium with council and private money. Still consultations needed with locals around Park Lane to occur.

 

Just thought of a name for the stadium. Really had to think about this but suddenly it clicked. How about..... "Waterside"!

 

Failing that: Thameside.

The Island.

Canvey Stadium.

 

No none of those.

 

Sure we had some names bantered around a while ago, any more?

why not call the road that goes to the car park, park lane and stick with what has done us proud so far

Could be some arguments before this stadium goes through. There is opposition to housing on the old ground and petitions are already doing the rounds.

 

Have to say they have a point in that seems the land was given to the council to be used for leisure use and not for housing.

didnt they spend ages moaning about canvey playing there and the proposed mod's to the ground.. what would they like there? a nice park to fill with shopping trolleys and chavs?.. if they made it an open football pitch they would moan about kids kicking a ball around
