Benno's gone

A bit surprised to hear Benno's been released. Though he'd do well in the Conference.

 

I suppose it's something to do with this new bloke from Aldershot.

A bit gutted that he's gone. I started watching Canvey on a regular basis towards the end of the 1998/99/start of the 1999/00 season and Benno was a regular in the team so along with Duffers, Parms and Wardy he is one of the old guard from when I first started going to Park Lane regularly. I'm sad to see him go.

 

I can see him ending up somewhere like Billericay or East Thurrock.

 

"Big Dave" as a he resembled the big black bloke from the pot noodle adverts has left the building!!

 

I wish him well in what he does in the future. He was a great servant for Canvey FC.

Really surprised at this as I thought that Bennett was quite an influential player for us still. Saw him against Fords and he set the tempo for the game. Thought there would be a chance of him playing in the defensive midfield holding role but he never got a real chance to try that position. He was a good replacement when Wardy was injured last season. The worse part of his game perhaps were some reckless tackles in our penalty box at times. Quite sad at this loss as I feel Benno could of still performed for the team in this season's higher level.
