Felt the need to post a message about the Abbey..

 

I think you have been a breath of fresh air in the ESL...

Absolutely fantastic this season and top of the league with a third of the season gone and currently 7 points clear.

You have proved everyone wrong so far...and long may this continue....

I am writing this now because the next two months is vital if you are going to sustain your challenge.

I still expect ETFC to prove too strong and for them to be the eventual winners however dig deep lads...get some good results until the new year then kick on from there.

cheers foxy. we have had a good start. our record from 1st game reads pld 24 w 21 d 2 L1 and kept 12 clean sheets!

 

to win the league would be a great achievemnet, and to win it on zero budget and with oldest player 25 and second 23!

 

of course only a third of the way through and it dont matter that we have been top from game 2, all that matters is who is top after the last game.

 

we have a lot of respect for enfield town and all of the other clubs in the league, there are a lot of good teams but we dont fear anyone.

 

it should be a good race this season, i think with a few other sides getting involved (played with a few of the lads in the essex game and there are some good players about!).

I have been unable to register under my usual name since the format was changed a few months ago. As I cant register I cant start new topics! This seemed as good a one to post to as any so here goes.

 

I heard yesterday that London Apsa manager was been sacked about 2 weeks ago. This may account for their better form lately. Anyone know anything?

Pinnacle, I remember the Iron reserves playing Waltham Abbey last year at Cressing Road, we won by 4.0

 

How many of your sucessful young team from this season would have been playing for your team then. Would that have been your reserves or 1st team last season in the Essex & Herts Combination. (We played in Feb.04)

 

Keep up your great start to the ESL season.

I would have to agree with foxy regarding WALTHAM ABBEYS excellent start to the start of the season they have been brillant good to see,i also agree that ENFIELD TOWN will be their with them fighting right to the end to win the essex senior league,also lets not forget BARKINGSIDE they have got a good squad to go close,another club that seems to be moving in the right direction is BOWERS & PITSEA things are definitly happening down at bowers.It will be an interesting season wouldnt you agree.

a few mate, probably 4 or 5 in the squad. i actually played in that game, ou had a few 1st teamers out. seem to remember andy porter scoring???

 

not sure....i will say two players i was very impressed with, Scott Williams (didnt have the greatest game but could tell he was quality) and Gilley was the other. Both very good players and i enjoyed playing alongside them.

Thanks Pinnacle he is fine, doing really well, don't know where you heard upto, but after being un conscious for I think 4 weeks, he stayed in Whitechappel hospital about 100 days, went to a Rehab place for recovery for Cancer pateints for about 3 weeks and then went home.

 

He can now feed himself, but as he does not have a stomach, he can only eat mashed food, he was sleeping in a bed downstairs in the lounge for about 3 months and now is upstairs, they put a stair rail up for him.

 

He still can't walk properly, but that will come, if he needs to get out he can via the wheelchair, he is doing really well and hopefully within a year he will be his old self, walking, driving etc.
