Old meets new for the first time in the FA Vase when Enfield Town manager Jim Chandler locks horns with his former club Enfield in an intriguing third-round tie next month.

Chandler, 51, who spent 12 years at double FA Trophy winners Enfield, will take the breakaway Enfield Town to Wodson Park, in Hertfordshire, the ground his old club share with Ware, to face their Ryman Division Two rivals.

He said: "I listened to the draw live. When Enfield came out, I knew we were next.

To draw them out of 63 teams - well, I thought I had more chance of winning the Lottery."

Town, second in the parallel Essex Senior League, put down roots in the Middlesex borough four seasons ago in a landmark move that preceded AFC Wimbledon's breakaway from their parent club.

Town groundshare with Brimsdown Rovers after being formed by the Enfield Supporters' Trust, who were disillusioned with the former club owners. Although the feud is over the rivalry is intense.

Town's record attendance of 562 was for a Middlesex Cup tie two seasons ago against Enfield, and Chandler said: "We won 4-0 but both clubs are unbeaten in their respective leagues now. Players even switch between the clubs and we are rivals and friends.

"But it's an enormous game. It's not just an FA Vase tie. It's local pride at stake."

Is Jim really only 51? I thought he was the same age as Peter and that other old chap Phil.

The player I'm most concerned about for EFC is Bunny who in my book would walk into a Town side if he was big enough to apologise for past misbehaviour.

But Richards looks tasty too!

No Comments from David McDonald then? Must be keeping his powder dry?
